Dr.-BolognaDr. Bologna is a Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon who graduated fom the Central University of Venezula. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela and left his country to pursue his career in Cardiac Surgery in the United States. He started his surgical training a t the Metropolitan Group of Hospitals/University of Illinois in Chicago, which is his favorite city. Then he moved to Birmingham, Alabama to pursue his career in cardiac surgery at the University of Alabama under the tutelage of Dr. A.D. Pacifico. After finishing his training he moved to the University of Florida where he spent another year specializing in complex aortic surgery.

 

He has particular interest in Adult Cardiac Surgery and Aortic Surgery. He has also spent a year doing in research in Cardiac Heart Transplantation at the Texas Heart Institute.He is married to his wife Alexandra and has two beautiful chidlren Michelle and Marco. He loves playing soccer and is a huge fan of the sport. He also enjoys sailing with family and friends.

Dr.-BrezingDr. Richard A. Brezing has been in practice in the Fort Lauderdale area since 1984. He is the president and founder of South Florida Cardiovascular Surgical Associates. He is board-certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery and has extensive experience in that area since his completion of training. He has special interests in coronary artery bypass surgery and performs both on- and-off-pump surgeries. He has extensive experience in this area, especially in dealing with elderly patients. He is also very interested in the treatment of lung cancer and has a special interest in performing surgery in this area. He routinely works with oncologists to many times resect lesions after they have been pre-treated with chemotherapy.

Dr. Brezing is originally from Niagara Falls, New York. He completed medical school training at New York Medical College in New York City and went to a general surgical training program at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York from 1975 to 1981. He did his cardiothoracic training at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and was involved in the program during the first artificial heart on Barney Clark. He also participated in a one-year fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery in St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in New York City.

He has been married for 20 years to his wife Norma, and they have four children: Christina, Andrea, Amanda, and Julia. In his free time, Dr. Brezing enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include cycling and skiing, as well as raising reptiles. His favorite spectator sport is football, and he has a special attachment to the Buffalo Bills.

Jonathan D. Hoffberger, D.O. has practiced cardiothoracic surgery in Michigan for more than 7 years. He recently moved back to South Florida, where he spent his childhood.

 

Dr. Hoffberger received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane University and returned to South Florida for his medical education. He completed a general surgery residency at Michigan State University and continued on to a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the prestigious Rush-Presbyterian- St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

 

Dr. Hoffberger performs cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, specializing in minimally invasive valve repair and replacement. He is credited with starting the minimally invasive cardiac surgery program at his previous hospital in Southeastern Michigan.

Dr.-MartinasevicDr. Martinasevic is board-certified in general surgery and peripheral vascular surgery. His practice is entirely focused upon surgical treatment in a whole spectrum of peripheral vascular diseases, with special interest in endovascular interventions, including the state of the art endovascular approach for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair.

Dr. Martinasevic was born in Tuzla, Bosnia Herzegovina and received a medical degree at the School of Medicine University of Tuzla 1983.He migrated to the United States in 1991. Dr Martinasevic completed his general surgery training and vascular/endovascular surgical fellowship at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. After completion of his training Dr Martinasevic joined South Florida Cardiovascular Surgical Associates. On September 11th. 2001 Dr Martinasevic was in New York and was actively involve as surgeon in a rescue effort.

Dr. Martinasevic has been married to his wife Mariana, child psychiatrist, for 20 years. They have one son. Dr Martinasevic enjoys traveling, fine art, gourmet food and music.

Dr. Martinasevic is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr.-ZalewskiDr. Zalewski is board-certified in general surgery and in peripheral vascular surgery, but his practice is entirely focused upon surgical treatment in a whole spectrum of peripheral vascular diseases, with special interest in advanced hemodialysis access procedures, complicated limb-salvage problems, and in treatment of aneurysmal disease, including the state of the art endovascular approach to abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery.

Dr. Marek Zalewski was born in Warsaw, Poland and received a medical degree at the Medical Academy in Warsaw in 1981. After leaving Poland in 1984, he migrated to the United States in 1987 and resumed his surgical training in 1989. After completion of surgical residency at the University of Miami in 1994, he continued subspecialty peripheral vascular surgical training at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit in 1994, followed by the Harbor UCLA program in 1995 and 1996. After completion of his training and after two years spent in Hollywood, Florida, he has been with South Florida Cardiovascular Surgical Associates since 1998.

Privately, Dr. Zalewski is married to a practicing anesthesiologist. They have two children ages 21 and 19. Dr. Zalewski’s other interests include travel, sports, and music.
